Willem de Rooij, Lidwien van de Ven and Vincent Vulsma have received a Grant International Presentations for participation in the group exhibition Mindful Circulations at Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai. On view are the works Blue to Black (2012) and Black to Blue (2015) by Willem de Rooij. The work by Lidwien van de Ven is in line with her installation FRAGMENTS [or a desire for revolution], which she first showed at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven in 2017 and later at BOZAR in Brussels. The installation focuses on her research of the history of communism in the Dutch East Indies. Vincent Vulsma made five new sculptures for the exhibition, part of his Return series.
The curator of the exhibition is Kerstin Winking. Other artists participating in the exhibition are: Dutch artist Naro Snackey, Indonesian artists Ignasius Dicky Takndare, Timoteus Angawwan Kusno, Zico Albaiquni, Otty Widasari, and Indian artists Naresh Kumar, Pallavi Paul, Rashmimala and Jithinlal NR. The featured artworks poetically relate phenomena from the colonial past to contemporary cultural production.
