Ronald Rietveld (RAAAF) receives support for his project ‘Hidden Worlds’ at the Cappadox (Contemporary) Art Festival 2018. ‘Hidden Worlds’ literally and figuratively reflects the life worlds behind the landscape of Cappadocia. After sunset, the focus shifts from the volcanic landscape of fairytale chimneys to the oppressed ancient cultures hidden in the valleys. The visitor walks along a path down into the dark valley and sees the hidden worlds of caves and underground towns light up in the rock walls. The work consists of a nocturnal large-scale landscape installation and a day installation in a ‘cave complex’. The candles are lit just before sunset (around 20:30) and will burn until sunrise (05:00). Curator of the festival is Fulya Erdemci.
